World of Warcraft Classic Guide Part 3

In the previous part, we’ve covered the UI aspect of Vanilla World of Warcraft, and most of your keybinding options. Today we’ll cover the races of World of Warcraft and what each race is good at. Unlike in Battle For Azeroth, in Classic WoW, each race has its own unique advantages.

The Alliance

The Alliance

The Alliance is the “good guys” faction of World of Warcraft and has 4 different races in Classic World of Warcraft, and those are:

  • Human
  • Night Elf
  • Dwarf
  • Gnome

Humans are a race that starts their journey in Northshire region of Elwynn Forest. The best class choices for Humans are Rogue and Paladin, because of their racial traits. Their racial traits are:

  • Diplomacy: Increases Reputation gain by 10%
  • The Human Spirit: Increases Spirit by 5%
  • Mace Specialization: Skill with one-handed and two-handed maces increased by 5
  • Sword Specialization: Skill with one-handed and two-handed swords increased by 5
  • Perception: Steal detection increased for 20 seconds

Night Elves start in Teldrassil, the great World Tree of Azeroth. Best class choices for Night Elves are Rogue and Druid. Their racial traits are:

  • Shadowmeld: Remains in stealth until you move
  • Quickness: Dodge chance increased by 1%
  • Wisp Spirit: Wisp form while dead, increasing speed by 50% while in ghost form
  • Nature Resistance: Nature Resistance increased by 10

Dwarves‘ starting zone is Dun Morough, right by Ironforge. Best class choices are Warrior and Hunter. Their racial traits are:

  • Stoneform: Activate to gain immunity to Bleed, Poison, and Diseases. Armor increased by 10% for 8 seconds with a 3-minute cooldown
  • Gun Specialization: Gun skill increased by 5
  • Frost Resistance: Frost Resistance increased by 10
  • Find Treasure: Ability to see nearby chests on the minimap

Gnomes share the starting zone with Dwarves. Best class choices are Warlock and Mage. Their racial traits are:

  • Escape Artist: Removes any immobilization or speed reduction effects. 1-minute cooldown
  • Expansive Mind: Intellect increased by 5%
  • Arcane Resistance: Arcane Resistance increased by 10
  • Engineering Specialist: Engineering skill increased by 15
Horde Race

The Horde

The Horde are Alliance’s mortal enemies in World of Warcraft. The faction was originally founded by Thrall, who managed to unite the warring clans of the old Horde. The Horde also has 4 factions:

  • Orc
  • Tauren
  • Troll
  • Undead

Orcs‘ starting zone is the Valley of Trials in Durotar. Best class choices for Orcs are Hunter and Shaman. Their racial traits are:

  • Blood Fury: Increases melee attack power by 25% for 15 sec and reduces healing effects on you by 50% for 25 sec.
  • Hardiness: Chance to resist Stun effects increased by an additional 25%.
  • Command: Damage done by Hunter and Warlock pets increased by 5%.
  • Axe Specialization: Skill with Axes and Two-Handed Axes increased by 5.

Tauren start in the great plains of Mulgore. Best class choices are Druid and Warrior. Their racial traits are:

  • War Stomp: Stuns enemies around you for 2 seconds. 2-minute cooldown.
  • Endurance: Total health increased by 5%
  • Cultivation: Herbalism skill increased by 15
  • Nature Resistance: Nature Resistance increased by 10

Trolls share their starting zone with Orcs and also start in Durotar. Best class choices are Rogue and Hunter. Their racial traits are:

  • Berserking: Increases casting and attack speed by 10% to 25%. Lasts 10 seconds with a 3-minute cooldown.
  • Regeneration: Health regeneration increased by 10%
  • Beast Slaying: Damage dealt versus Beasts increased by 5%
  • Thrown/Bow Specialization: Skill with Thrown Weapons and Bows increased by 5

Undead are the only Horde race that starts in Eastern Kingdoms, in the Tirisfal Glades zone. Best class choices are Mage and Warlock. Their racial traits are:

  • Will of the Forsaken: Immunity to Charm, Fear, and Sleep effects while active.
  • Cannibalize: Regenerate 7% of total health every 2 seconds for 10 seconds. Only usable on Humanoid or Undead corpses.
  • Underwater Breathing: Underwater breath lasts 300% longer than normal
  • Shadow Resistance: Shadow Resistance increased by 10
